With almost 20,000 species of plants, we are the largest botanical garden in Germany. Our greenhouses and grounds are unique in the world and are listed historical monuments.

• Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
• For school classes and groups with children under the age of 18, it is the responsibility of the
accompanying adults to ensure that the garden rules are observed.

• Animals (except guide dogs with appropriate documentation).
• Bicycles, sledges, scooters, balance bikes, drones and dangerous or disturbing objects. Bicycles can be
parked at the entrances (at your own risk).
• Bouquets of flowers, purchased plants, parts of plants or seed packets.
• Very large bags, even empty ones (lockers are available in the Visitor Centre).
The following are permitted ...
• Picnicking on the signposted lawn.
• Photography and filming for personal use.
• Photography and filming for commercial purposes with the permission of the Botanic Garden.
Please apply 14 days in advance!
• Guided tours for students / school classes by teaching staff.
It is forbidden to ...
• Damage the plants.
• Touch the plants on display or climb trees.
• Leave the public paths in the greenhouses / garden – as a general rule, beds / planting areas,
meadows and closed paths are not to be entered.
• Remove plants, parts of plants, mushrooms, fruit or seeds. This will be reported as theft.
• Move or remove signs.
• Practise any form of sport (e.g. jogging, dancing or ball games).
• Disturb the peace by making noise.
• Use a barbecue or light a fire.
• Feed animals (not even the cute foxes) or let them loose.
• Organise events on the site that have not been previously approved by the Botanic Garden.
This includes demonstrations.
• Conduct guided tours that have not been authorised by the Botanic Garden.
You help us by ...
• Taking your rubbish with you or disposing of it in the dedicated bins.
• Using the toilets provided and not the nearest tree trunk!
• Following the instructions of our service team.
For your safety
In winter, only the main paths are gritted. In the event of imminent danger (e.g. storm warning), the garden will be closed. Please follow the instructions of our service team.
We cannot provide compensation if …
• Areas have to be closed for technical or operational reasons.
• You leave the accessible paths (the main paths in winter).
• Damage is caused to pushchairs or wheelchairs.
• Any other damage or harm is caused by failure to comply with these regulations.

By entering the Botanic Garden, you accept these rules as binding.
They also apply to attendance at events on this site.
